Default 1995 rear brake calliper tension spring

I had to take my rear callipers off my 1995 Mustang to wind back the pistons and replace the pads. From the position I was working in, I couldn't get the handbrake cable off one of them. As a result, I unscrewed the retaining bolt and ping off it went. The caliper came off nice and easy then. However, once wound back I tried to put the spring back on. No way! I've tried everything. How does the bastard thing go back on? The tension in the spring is ridiculous!
