An SVO mustang was a mustang built by special vehicle operation division of ford motor company. They were produced in 84', 85', 85.5', and 86' less than 10,000 were ever made in those three years. They were powered by a 2.3 turbo charged four cylinder, in 84' they had 175 hp and from 85' to 86' they were boosted up to 205 hp. They had koni shocks, 15:1 steering ration, four wheel disc brakes, a T-5 modefied by hurst. In 84' they had 3.42 posi rear end and later was moved up to a 3.73 posi. 16' wheels with VR50 gator back tires. The position of the pedals was modified to improve shifting. They have the best handling no 5.0 could out perform them side by side "stock." I know there are more special things that I left out about them but basicly they are great performers. Their main reason for production was to compete againts the porshe and other small 4 cylinder cars at I forgot what race.

Thank you much for the info, have always wondered what they were. By the way your car sounds like it is sick as hell.

Thanks we've also got a 67' coupe project, a 70' Torino, and an 84' SVO. From having the SVO and reading up on them for long hours are how I have built my knowlege about them.

I couldn't describe near as good as fostang, but the only tidbit i can add is that SVO stands for special vehicle operations...it was the SVT of the 80's.

I am currently restoring an '86 SVO comp prep. It's number 31 of 83 built in '86. I may be wrong, but from what I have read and seen, this is the rarest Mustang ever produced. Feels good saying that, by the way.

I have owned both, an 84 GT AND 84 SVO and the SVO would out handle my GT hands down I sold my SVO and now my GT has an SVO suspension complete with the factory konis (be warned this conversion is no walk in the park the front k-member has to be changed as well as well as most of the brake parts master cylinder, vacum boster and porpotioning valve,to get the brakes to feel right and E-brake cables SVOS have rear disk so the GT cables won't work
