V6 Ranger
I have 84 V6 with horrible carb problem> I'm told even when new they weren't very good. Can I convert to a regular 2V Carb without electronics. I know I have to change distributor for vacuum advance, what distrib. will fit? I'll do a 5.0 in future, but for now I need this thing to run. Thanks for help!

It's true, the CFI 3.8liter truly lacked in the performance area. But, then again, the carbed ones weren't that much better. The biggest problem in swapping to carb is that I don't believe there was a 3.8 built without any type of feedback fuel system. But, there are ways around it. Using the '83 (mustang) components, you can get the Duraspark II distributor, and the intake. Just locate a decent 2barrel to sit on top of it. The Duraspark wiring is pretty simple to hook up, and a lot cheaper than the TFI ignition systems. Good luck
