Question 2001 3.8 mustang coupe srs

I have a problem with first gear it seems to have a rev limiter because it cuts back at 4000 rmps, I just want to know is there a way to fix this problem without haveing to buy a programer.. I just bought the car about 4 months ago and just starting to do modifications to it... Its a 2001 3.8L v6 mustang srs coupe..
any info on this year and model would be greatly appreciated...

i dont know much about the v6 but does it have traction control? are the tires spinning when it cuts out?if not u might have to have some 1 program it....there is a skip shift eliminator for the gm 6speed that plugs in it..i dont know if they make something to plug in to yours...mabey call up summit....good luck man

If you can post your PCM code, I'll take a look at the file. However, Ford generally doesn't have gear-specific limiters for the manual transmission cars. My first suspicion would be something mechanical like plug gap, bad wires, etc. are causing the miss in first gear. BTW, there is no skip-shift for the Fords.
