Oxygen Sensor
MY 95 mustang hesitates from a start, idles very rough when cold and the check engine light is on. I have replaced the oxygen sensor with a generic oxygen sensor. The dealer told the problem was the generic sensor and that I needed a ford oxygen sensor. Is this true or is he just trying to sell me somthing. What could be causing all of problems? The obd codes said it was runing too lean.

There have been cases where these parts have also worked fine for awhile... You say obd shows lean..but which bank is lean? Have you reset your comper yet or cleared the light in the panel? Make sure too take off your Neg side batt cable for about 15 minutes too reset the EEC... Also..Make sure your o2 connectors both of them have no oil on them or take both off and clean with a little carb clean then dry out well..Only do this when they are cold and not warm or hot from driving then check back in and tell us whats going on...

Re: Oxygen Sensor
Try swapping the sensors side-to-side and see if the lean conditions follows the sensor. Also, put the car on a data logger and see what the raw voltages coming from the O2 sensors are.
