Default Using T-bird supercharger

I recently bought my mom's 95 mustang off of her for $3000, because that is what the dealership was offering as a trade in. I figured why not. Its an automatic v6 and I was told to supercharge it to get some extra power, along with changing the exhaust and air silencer. All the good stuff that is usually talked about on these posts. I was told to look into buying a used T-bird supercoupe supercharger because it was used on a 3.8 engine and can be found pretty cheap, like $400. Will that just be able to bolt onto the stock 3.8 in my mustang. Would it even provide that much extra horsepower. Would the automatic trans be able to deal with a supercharged engine.

I have done alot of research on this. You will get 210 hp with a 89-93 and 230 hp with a 94-95. It will not go directly onto the Mustang 3.8. You need the whole intake. Plus The Thunderbird SC heads are better. You can just change the the heads and intake but your car will melt down pretty fast because the lower part of the engine can not handle it. To make a long story short You would be better putting the whole T-bird SC engine in. It will save you time and money. You should be able to get one if you can find it for about $1000-$1500. Plus The thunder bird SC seems to over heat really really easliy. On the plus side there is many up grades for this and it is easy to get 300rwhp. If you have any more questions please ask. Good luck.

Does that mean that a stock mustang 3.8 can not be supercharged? What about superchargers like the one listed on http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/....htm#V6%20perf

different type of charger. Yes they can be SC. One is centfucial and one is screw type. The T-bird blower replaces the Upper intake. The vortech and Procharger botl on the front.

Default Hey here's the deal...

I run the Thunderbird Super Coupe Club for New Jersey. The 3.8 liter engine block for a SC is TOTALLY DIFFERENT!!!!! The bottom end was strengthed and used a different crank than regular 3.8's. The heads are different, and the cooling is only prone to overheating due to people pushing a lot of horsepower through a under-sized radiator. The amount of boost the SC supercharger makes is 10-16 pounds of boost depending on back pressure. You will also need the manifold, bypass system, intake, intercooler tubes, intercooler, etc.

Any questions, call me at (973) 277-4294
