yet another problem???
my 88 gt has a small backfire in the upper and lower intake when i step on it, does anyone have any idea of what it is??
i fixed my laste idel problem thanks to you guys!! |

I would say that you are either running too much timing or you have a carbon build up problem.
How about some more info,

i dont think it would be carbon because i just rebuilt it all and have not yet had a chance to run it for a long period of time
but my timming is set at 14% i set it there because it ran good there before, it ran the best there. nuice car by the way |

Are you sure the timing belt sprockets are lined up correctly. You can have an engine run fine (but with a slight loss of power) with the belt off a tooth. This will cause backfiring and since you just rebuild it, that would be my guess, luckily 2.3L engines aren't interferance engines, so if it's the case, there's likely no harm done.

well i put a grea drive in it and read threw all the instruction and had my dad who is a mechanic look at it so i know that the gear drive is in right
i thought iot might be because its running lean and the computer is not getting it so may be need a different chip put in but iam not sure. |
