Starter/solenoid problem
Today when I went to start the car, it's an 88 2.3, the starter would not disengage. It kept running even after I pulled the trigger wire and removed the keys. I finally had to pull the battery cable, then pull the starter cable from the solenoid and turn the ignition switch and bump the cable to the solenoid to start the car and then tuck the cable going to the starter to the side. Since it continued after I pulled the trigger wire I didn't think it was the ignition switch. I replaced the solenoid and it worked fine but only once. Once I shut the car off and restarted it the problem came back. I can't believe I got a bad solenoid relay that's causing the same problem so does anyone else have any ideas?

Re: Starter/solenoid problem
Well believe it or not I just got a bad solenoid from Discount Auto. Double checked everything else and it was OK. Brought the solenoid I just purchased back to Discount and swapped it out for another. Installed it and so far no more problems.
