Welcome to the mustang club
I just replied to another post about performance parts you can add on and there's a few links on there you might be interested in. If you're looking to get some serious power out of a 2.3L then either a nitrous oxide kit can help or doing a turbo swap from one of these vehicles would provide a good boost in power.
'84-'86 Mustang SVO
'87-'88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
late 80's Merkur XR4Ti
'83-'84 Mustang GT (non intercooled turbo)

That's all i can think of, off the top of my head.

I really hate that this car is a 4 banger. Don't worry though, it will soon be a V8. How soon is the real question though. We are doing a Manual swap and a gear change soon. Can you say 4.10's?

Don't force feed the 2.3 without using forged pistons. You'll melt down your cast factory pistons. The easiest and cheapest way to get a little extra from that glorified Pinto engine is to pull the head and take it to your local machine shop. Have the head ported & relieved and have oversized valves installed. Then while you're waiting for them to finish the work call Racer Walsh and have them send you a camshaft with a bit more lift and duration. Racer Walsh also has the oversized valves. Next step is to add a fresh air intake wit a 70mm MAF and a TB from a 5.0 (Tiny Avenger sells the adapter for this swap). Later you can bottle feed the 2.3 with the cast pistons. Don't forget to insist on a B&M filter. If you really want a turbo then you'll need to get into the engine and add some forged piston w/moly rings. Bore and stroke it if you like. The proper turbo setup can produce over 400 hp when done with the head work.
