Question Air Temp Temp Resistors

I'm new to the forum so this has probally been discussed. I've heard you can increase HP by adding resistors to the
air temp harness. Does this work and any ideas how much
"r" s' to add?

never heard of that. Do not see how it would work. If someone does please explain.

It works by tricking the ECM into thinking the air is cooler, and it advances the timing by roughly 3 degrees. IMO, it's not a wise thing to do.

Take care,

There was a long dissusion on that in one of the other forum's... Was kinda 2 guy's saying that it increased timing ,other said it made the car run richer..But most said they could tell the diff. Best way is to install a potentiometer(maybe not spelled correctly) ,with it you can adjust the amount of ohm's of resistance to see what is better or just adjust back to zero ....Some said mileage was alot worse
Think it was in 3.8mustang.com forum

I have a potentio thingy ,but not sure if i want to try it on my car...but only thing I do like is that it is something that can be removed , or with the pot. thing can adjust back to zero, and the thing dont cost but a couple dollars.. you would just need wire and it can be mounted inside the car..

My teacher in school added a potentiometer to the ECT circuit in his mustang. He goes to the drag strip all the time (he's the points leader in his bracket racing division) but i don't know if/or how much HP it added. He's also messed with the air intake temp sensor a little bit. He has the potentiometer in his glove box....pretty cool idea.
He says he did it for consistancy and tunability.
