Thumbs up Got my first Stang! but i need help on upgrades on a 2.3...help?

hey guys i turned 16 back in June and i just got my first car today 92 2.3 ( 11/07/05 ) My brother in law and i are fixin it up for me to drive. all it needs right now to run is a crank sensor but i want it to have at least a lil giddy up and go if u know what i mean in about 6 months i plan to drop a 5.0 in it. ive heard some good things bout the guys on ths board and i was wonderin if yall could tell me some low budget stuff that will give me some HP gain. i really appreiciate it.... superfordman@hotmail.com thanks

since it's a '92 it's a dual plug engine so you can't adjust timing.
a few things i can think of:
1. take the intake tube between the air cleaner and throttle body and replace it with a solid pipe (cold air intake kit or get bent pipe with hose connections, etc. - something you have to manufacture yourself).
-the intake tube has a muffler that restricts airflow into something like a 1 1/2" opening.
2. Take the air filter box and remove the silencer attached to the inlet and increase the opening with a cutting/grinding tool.
3. find a ford ranger tubular exhaust manifold (header), cheap and plentiful, but make sure it's the factory header and not a regular manifold.
4. not sure of the exact resistance, but install a resistor inline between the inlet air temperature sensor or engine coolant temperature sensor and harness so the engine thinks the engine is running slightly cooler so it'll add more fuel and timing for more power.
