Default Side emblem question?

I wanted to take off the side emblems on the fenders...the mustang horses. I plan on keeping it clean right there with nothing on it. My question is once i take them off is there any way to put them back on at a later date???? I noticed there is some double sided type tape underneath it, and was apprehensive about taking them off if that tape would be no good after i did it.

And whats the best way to get them off????

Thanks

You should be able to pry it off with your fingers and a small screwdriver. Just be careful not to scratch the paint of break the emblem. If you decide to put it back on, just get some 3M double sided tape and cut it to fit. That stuff works great and should you should be all set after that.

Use a blow dryer to take them off. It melts the tape. When you take it off you will have two big holes where the emblems where. So it will look better with the emblem left on.

Why LX??? Your Mustang is not a LX. They stopped making them in 1993. Yours is just a coupe. just a thought.

Well, according to ford, it has the LX v6 package (spoiler, alloy wheels, power everything)

they just arent advertised as LX's.

Its true - i even went o the dealership once and they asked if it was a V6 or a LX

That is kool. I am guessing mine is a LX also by your description. IT will look different if you put the LX emblem on.

and i'm totally not BS'in ya either. You probably do have the LX one. In one of my ford brocures from i think 97 or 98 (have it somewhere) it shows a picture of a V6 and it says underneath it MUSTANG LX SHOWN IN (color)

By different...do you think it would look gay?

No not gay. I just have not seen it before. IT makes me curious to see how it will look. If you do it send me pics. I am always looking for cool stuff to do to my car. Good Luck. My 1994 is fully loaded has wing and 3 star rims. I am guessing it is an LX.

If you're going for the "clean fender look (ie..no holes) you'll have to weld a small plate on the back of the fender, fill the small little groove left behind with bondo, primer it, and then repaint the fener.

It's a real pain in the ***. I'd slap on the V6 or LX emblems you previously mentioned. Just a thought.

As long as you stay the hell AWAY from those god-awful windshield wiper hood lights, you'll be okay in my book.

ah how times change. for the longest time people were taking off the LX symbol and replacing with the pony. No ponies were on the 85 to 93 stangs and people missed them. Ford put them back on to resemble the 60's cars.
