Question 2.3 Starting Problem

1988 LX Convertable, 2.3, 5sp. When she starts she runs great. Every 5th or 6th time it won't start. I get a voltabge drop (looking at the dash) but nothing else. This happens on an irrigular basis, and I can't make it happen. Then, whenever she wants, she starts like nothing is wrong. It is not the starter, starter relay, battery ground, or clutch switch. I am looking at putting a new ingition switch next. Two questions: 1)The shop manual says the new switch is indexed to the run position. The February issue of Mustang Monthly says to have the switch in the lock position. Any one know how I can tell which is correct? 2) What else could be wrong? Thanks, RSB

How good is your battery? I just replaced mine after similar problems and that seems to be the answer.
