Default Gas pump - need help!!

HI!!
I have recently change the gas pump to my 2000 V6 mustang and a couple of days after I noticed the gas indicator did move from 3/4, even that I was driving for a while, so I went back to the dealer and they told me that now the problem is the "float" indicator???? and have nothing to do with the repair they did changing the gas pump... I don't believe them because in order to change the gas pump they need to move the gas tank, isn't it?
Do you think this failure is a consequence of the previous, I mean, when they changed the gas pump???
Please help me with this, this is costing me a lot of money!!!
THANKS!!!
