Thats what I wanted to hear. You have actually been to the track and ran your car and know what it runs. Who can argue with that?

That is an awesome time for a V6 stang "IMO." Obviously you know how to bang through the gears.

What is the average time you see for 99+ V6 5 speed stangs in your area?

Hey thanks for keeping it real. That falls right in line with what I see at the track.

I will check out your video tomorrow at work. I have DSL at work and a crappy dial up connection at home

Its always fun to beat cars with more cylinders or mods than you. Hell a few bolt ons and some gears and your car will be pretty damn quick even though its missing 2 cylinders

Hey nice 5.0 kill. It looked like you really raped him on reaction time.

What did the 5.0 run in the video?

Nice kill,

The new V6 mustangs i've heard of getting mid 15's in good weather/slicks and 5 speed, but most are high 15, low 16 from what i've seen. they also have 190 horsepower. the older ones with 145 horsepower are low 17 second cars which is a little slower than most non-turbo imports. Heck, my jeep can almost beat miatas
For 400 dollars i would definately invest in gears, the difference is HUGE. 4.10:1 gears may be a little steep for the powerband of your engine, let alone the grip of your tires. 3.73's would be my recommendation and a set of good sticky street tires (or drag radials on back).
Other than that i wouldn't bother modifying anything until you get some ported heads/intake manifold (i've heard that the pre-99 split port heads flow more ported than a ported set of split-port heads so you didn't get the total shaft for your model year V6), then you can start making some serious power if you chose to.

i have a 5 speed 2001 i have ran in the mid 15's on a nice day
but when i put slicks on my car the fastest i ran was a 16.4
cause i realized the problem was that the v6 mustangs don't have crazy horsepower so if the wheels dont spin your not getting enough rpm's to produce the horse power you need i did alot better when my wheels spun a little cause you could get more rpm's

What RPM were you launching with slicks? Most cars will bog a little with slicks and it also depends on what size slicks you decide to use. Also better gears with slicks would help a ton. You could probably get some awesome times by beating the hell out of your car, but i do understand why you ran faster with a little bit of wheel spin. Any time you spin the tires, that's wasted traction/power, though. If you can keep an engine in the power band and have traction, that's when you get your best times obviously.
I've gone to "import" nights at Pacific Raceways (closest track to me) and it's hilarious to see the imports with slicks. Redline launches and they still bog, lol.
I've never owned a V6 stang, let alone launched one at the track but i can imagine stock gears, stock torque with slicks would bog the engine. A guy at my work that has a '93 GT basically stock (ported intake and heads, exhaust, 3.73 gears...that's all) ran a 13.5, but was launching at 5500 rpm (this was a very cool day and he got perfect traction). He said he normally ran 13.8-13.9 range when he launched lower or during higher temperatures, but getting off the line gets the best times.

Hi everyone!! I am new, but I am going to put in my 2 cents....

I have a 98 v6 auto mustang..It came stock w/ 150 horses (wow not to impressive but I am not paying for it so know complaints) anyways the fastest time that I ever got out of it was 16.3 in the 1/4...My mods at that time were a MAC cold air intake, 3:45 gears and t-lok, true dual exhaust, diablo performance chip, 57mm t-body, and a 75mm mass air.

Today my fastest time is 14.4 in the 1/4 (probably would be better if it had a different driver......I refuse to luanch it off the line) anyways my mods are almost the same except I know longer have the MAC cold air intake it was replaced w/ a Vortech S-trim supercharger.

Around here (San Antonio,Tx) you see a few 99+ hitting mid 15s....
