Unhappy Help! Car won't start

Hello,

I have an 89 2.3 L . I recently had problems with my car stalling. I could restart the car if I waited about 30 minutes.

So I decided to replace the fuel pump but now the car won't start. There is no spark at the plug, so I replaced the ignition coil. no effect. The rotor and cap are a couple of months old so I don't think they are the problem.

I tried the trouble codes but that doesn't make a difference since the car isn't warm it just gives temperature too low codes.

So tonight I am going to change the ignition module, I hope this works. I also ordered an EEC relay, but I don't know where it is located. Can someone tell me?

Hopefully the car will work tonight after the install. If not, I am at a loss.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sergio

Hello, can anyone help me,

To rephrase;

Okay, heres the deal. I have a 89 2.3L mustang. I recently replaced the fuel pump to correct stalling while driving problems. The fuel pump works but now the car cranks/turns but won't start. There is no spark after the ignition coil or after the distributor.

I've replaced the following: fuel pump, fuel pump relay, ignition coil, ignition module, and the distributor rotor and cap are only 2 months old.

So where is the problem? Now, I think it could be in the ignition system wiring but that sounds complicated. I've read something about "fused links". Does anyone know if a faulty link can cause cold starting problems.

Please, does someone have any suggestions?

Those distributor mounted ignition modules are known for giving problems. Make sure when you change it you use the supplied heat transfer grease in the package. Most of the time this dries up causing the module to fail.

And welcome to Mustang Works
