Default Crankshaft front seal leak

I have a 79 5.0 mustang that has an oil leak on/near the timing cover. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to fix??? Thanks

removing the timing cover is pretty easy, the hardest part is getting off the harmonic balancer bolt which is usually on there pretty tight.
if i remember correctly, you could take off the front cover and EASILY remove the front crank seal. it would also be a good time to replace any other seal/gasket in the area, as well as replace the timing chain.

good luck, it's not that bad of a job. you can even leave the water pump attached to the front cover.

oh yeah, also i'd replace the oil pressure sending unit while you're at it. those tend to leak, and once they "go" you'll be driving and suddenly you won't be anymore and you'll be looking to pick up a new engine. I had one go out suddenly on a trip to oregon when i had a 95 jeep wrangler. Now i'm replacing those as a service item on any car I own because being stranded in the middle of nowhere SUCKS!<z>
