Default Just bought a Notchback!

No one probably cares, but I'm finally getting a notchback. It's a 1990 Black w/grey interior 5.0 with only 65,000 mi on it, and totally stock. I bought on it on ebay for $4950 which seems like a sweet deal being it's a coupe plus with low miles on it and having being repainted. I'll try and attach some pics from the ebay page, I gotta drive to NJ next saturday to pick it up.

I know, I'd like to get a set of Cobra R's (17x8 front, 17x9 rear) and an extra set of Dragstars (15x4 front, 15x8 rear) for the strip. Right now it has the 10 hole wheels, but I'll hopefully get a new set in the next month or two. I'd like to get a lot of things for it being it's all pretty much original, would I benifit from a better intake (trick flow) with the stock heads and 1.7 rollers? I'm gonna replace the exhaust asap w/Dr. Gas X-pipe and either 2 Chambers or Spintechs (Probably prostreets). It's gonna need some gears too. D*mn, I can't wait to go pick it up next weekend.

Cool, only thing that I would recommend is have a game plan. Nothing worse then redoing your project 2-3-4 times before you get it the way you want.
Before putting on a any engine mods I would put on sub-frame connectors. Then start with traction devices, (tires and such) besides the obvious stuff like regular maintence. (brakes, oil changes and tune-up.)
Good Luck

I'm definitely gonna think it out before I buy anything for the motor (intake/cam/etc.) The first things I'll do is get a Tri-Ax shifter and all new exhaust (headers/mufflers/x-pipe/turndowns). Then Wheels/tires and the rearend/suspension (gears/control arms/subframe connectors/alum. driveshaft). As far as the motor, I'd like to bolt on parts like and intake, roller rockers, mass air meter, ignition, etc. that I will be able to use if I build up a motor in the future (331 with good heads/intake/cam and eventually a turbo setup). There's a crapload of things I wish I could just go out and buy at once. At least I have a good car to start with now though, my 85 Astro seemed to be going nowhere fast with the money I put into the motor/trans setup.

Hey, that is a nice car. I'm always interested in a clean notchback. You got a great deal on a low mileage car. Seems like you got it planned out well, too. Happy for, ya man.

I'm envious!! That's the car I've always wanted!(I have a 89 lx vert) Does it have the sport seats? If I had that car the first thing I would add is well.. exhaust but secondly some heads, heads would show you some tremendous gains. Bigger maf, throttle body and intake to round it out. Those mods will put a smile on your face

I definitely want to put exhaust on right after I pick it up, I talked to the guy more yesterday and he said pretty much everything is perfect, but stock including the headers. The only thing I'm not sure about is I was planning on going with the TFS high port heads down the road which use there own style header, are the high ports the better head for the $ or should I go with AFR 185's or something else? I'll want a head/intake/cam setup that doesn't put the powerband over 7000. Any suggestions?

II'd just a set of TFS Twisted Wedge heads or a set of AFR 165's on it.

If it's gonna be blown/turbo'ed and/or stroked I'd get the AFR 185's.

I perfer the TFS. But qustion for the AFR guys...
The afr heads are indeed good heads, but from my understanding theres not much you can do to those heads later right??? No more porting and stuff???
Now if I am wrong please let me know because I hate to be mis informed.

Now you take a set of TFS heads and you can have those heads ported tremendously for future mods. So in an essence they grow with you.
MY 2 cents.

Smile congrats!

Im happy for you, looks like a clean ride, and the price isn't bad.
I am actually thinking about getting one also when I get back some income tax money. I'd like to find a red or white one though.
But anyways its real nice, like to see some more pics when you get it.

D*mn, I'm ready to rip someones head off. I was planning on picking up the car this saturday, I've been waiting for an insurance check for a month now. It finally comes today, so I figured I could wire some of the money to the guy w/car and he'd send me the title to be transfered before the weekend but the bank has to hold the check for 5-7 BUSINESS days starting tomorrow which means I won't have $ until at least next thursday, and I can only go up on a weekend so it'll be either next weekend or the one after that. I'm so sick of everything taking so f*cking long and never going smoothly. On top of that I have a guy on ebay that I bought a Steeda Knob from, www.thunderbolt-motorsports.com (his ebay username) who had had my $ for over 2 weeks and hasn't sent me the item and won't give me a solid answer on where it is. DON'T buy anything from them, they told me they needed more info so they could tell me if it's been shipped so I emailed them and he blocked my e-mail address cause I used "profane" language and said to call him. I call and they tell me I need to e-mail them cause the guy can't check opver the phone. I'm ready to go to florida and ***** that guy up real good.
