Post 90 tires/wheels

what would it take to put 255's all around, or just in the back? I have hear people say that they just had to bang out the wheel wells, what would this entail? Is it difficult, does it require special skill/tools? Can I break something by doing it?

I've got 245's all around on mine. I have a little rubbing in the front when I turn the wheel all the way, but otherwise no problem. 255's would be fine in the back but I wouldn't go bigger than 245's in the front. IMO having a little wider tire in back than the front is a nice look.

I'm with Chris. I've got 245s all the way around and some rubbing in front with the wheel at full lock. I could've gone bigger in back but not in front. Also, I've got 245/55s on 7.5" wheels....doesn't work as well as it could with some 235s.

Question

ok, What about new wheels? I was thinkin of doing 15/8 on the back with 255's, and 16/8 with 235 on the front. How does that sound?

If your gonna go with new rims you ought to stick the fattest skins you can fit back there, 275's might work with good backspacing if you pull the quads, but you need aftermarket lower control arms to do that I think. I'm sure others might know for sure, I'm just guessing at this point.

I was asking the same thing on another post. He is probably talking about stock 15X7 10 hole rims with no modifications to the rear or front. I am planning to stuff 245/6015's on my completely stock 90 coupe since I have them already, I will report the clearance since it sounds like they will fit ( ok at least I am not too scared to mount em up and see if they fly)

I dont know whats different about my 1990 mustang GT but I had 255/75/15's on mine when I purchased it. So how can I tell if he has done anything to MAKE those fit.

once stangs started using the pony wheels in 91 they put diffrent fenders in the front to acommadate a bigger wheel and tire..so if you wanna run some big tires then use 91+ fenders up front..backs remained the same
