				 | static in speakers I get static in my speakers only when the engine is running. It's not engine noise but just some crackling static that I can hear slightly in the background. When the engine is off then it plays great with no static. What is causing that static I hear and what do I do to fix it? This is the system I have: Alpine CD head unit (35wx4) Clarion 6.5 door speakers (200w max.) Jensen 6x9 speakers in rear (150w max.) passive crossover network 2) 12inch JL audio subs Alpine V-12 amp(150w)......powers the door speakers & 6x9's Alpine V-12 amp(300w)......powers the subs

				 | Tt's noise from some type of eletronics on the motor. Do you have a ignition box? Try installing a noise filter, that should solve your problem. -Josh, aka the tireburner

				 | No ignition box. My system is in my bone stock '88GT. I'll try the filter like you mentioned.

				 | I don't know how much troubleshooting you've done but try unplugging the RCA's on the amp. If you still have noise try regrounding the amp somewhere else. If that doesn't work but a groundloop isolator for the RCA's. It goes inbetween the RCA's from the radio and where they plug into the amp. |

				 | If I unplug the RCA's from the amps then I probably won't have any sound out of the speakers then.......or will I? Why wouldn't it have static with the engine off? I don't know....I'll give it a shot though.

				 | Unplugging the RCA's eliminates a couple of things. There can still be noise coming from the speakers eventhough the RCA's are not plugged. There isn't supposed to be, that's why you disconnected them- to see if there is a problem. If there is still static there's a problem with the amp or amp ground I would suspect. If you still have noise try regrounding the amp. If there is no noise than try a ground loop isolator. You can get them at any stereo shop for $15-20. The RCA can also be bad so try a new one if you can. |
