Post 85' mustang 5.0 H.O stock heads????

I just bought an 85 5.0 h.o from a mustang, i have been told that the stock heads should not be E7TE's but the bottoms of them are clearly marked as E7's so i figure it is safe to assume that they are. with this, i would like to know, are all E7TE's the same and mainly are mine worth porting, because i want to try it, atleast just to remove the smog bumps and i cant afford to buy aftermarket ones, so if anyone has any site references, information or opinions on this or any other ways of relitively low budget performance ideas, i am very open to hear them, thanks alot
ps. so far i will only have headers and low restriction dual 2.5" exhaust but would like to make this intake and possibly cam work better with this along with porting, thanks alot for any help, sorry about all the questions.

I am by no means a expert, but the E7TE head was introduced on the 225 HP 1987 EFI 5.0 HO so if that is the original head for the 85 it should make approx 25 hp less, since the 86 EFI 5.0 HO was 200 hp.

I assume there are date codes somewhere on the head or other codes that would confirm the origin of those heads. Of course someone could have swapped a set of E7TE heads on your 85 sometime in history for a nice power boost. With all the 5.0's running around with aftermarket heads stock E7TE's should be easy to find.

The '85 GT's are rated at 210 horse. In Ford casting numbers E=8, and F=9 to represent the decade and the second digit represents the exact year. For example a cylinder head on an '85 GT should be E5AE.
