Swap

Anyone got any info on how to swap a 4 banger or a v-6 to an eight. I got both projects in the works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We need to know exact years, makes, models, and displacements you are swapping. It's not that hard, generally. Just pull one out and put the new one in! It's easiest if you swap transmissions at the same time, though. If it's a 4-banger, the rear end should be changed, but isn't totally necessary, same thing for the suspension. V6's are similar.
If you have a car with an inline 6 from the factory, you're going to have a real job to do. Trust me, I'm just finishing up with this myself. You must change the entire engine cradle/K-member/#2 crossmember in order for any other engine to fit. The inline six cars are the only ones you have to watch out on this for. Their K-members are VERY unique. Get back and post here if you need specific information.

Okay, here's the specs on the 4 banger. I got an 89 convertible that EFI. I'm putting in a 302 from an 85 that I'm putting a carb on. One thing that I have a question about is the whole ignition thing. I know I need a new starter. Is that all I need? Also, will I need a new alternator? I have a new T-5, springs, struts, mounts, bellhousing, shifter, hoses, radiator and the whole nine yard to make the engine work. I even got a tower brace and subframe connectors. It's getting the car started that killing me. I got a fuel pressure regulator to cut the psi to 7 so the Holley 650 double pumper can handle it, but the ignition is what's holding me back. Any ideas?
