Question Temp question

Can anyone tell me why my pony (3.8) runs better before it reaches operating temp? I swear, but it runs like a scalded cat before it reaches the normal operating temp.

However, when it does reach it, the power isn't the same. Prior to the normal operating temp I have excellent power throughout the entire RPM range, but after I don't get power until around 2200 RPMs. Any ideas? Would installing a lower temp thermostat help, or is it unwise (causes premature cylinder wear)like I've heard? I'd love to hear from anyone who's experiencing this too, or has any ideas.

Thanks!

Most likely, the computer is allowing the engine to run rich before warm-up (normal) and this produces the power increase you experience.
You could try a 180 thermostat and see if it works.
Another option is installing an
adjustable fuel pressure regulator which can be set to deliver more fuel then the factory regulator.
Not certain about availability of those for the 3.8 but you could check JEG'S or SUMMIT.
