timing belt snaped...in the rain
well if finally happened...that blasted timing belt of my car snaped....in a frickin monsoon.
It looks like a pretty simple task, but I'm just wondering....how do I get it back in time and make sure it's right? Are there dot's or something.

this belongs in the small ponies forum ******!
I would hope that it has dots or something like that to tell where to line it up at, but then again, maybe not. PKRWUD where are you?

Pull the spark plugs. Line up the crank so that the timing pointer lines up at TDC (zero degrees). Pull the cover off, and rotate the cam until the pointer on the sprocket (a little inward pointing triangle) lines up with the pointer on the head (at approx. 5:30, if looking at the cam sprocket). Back off the tensioner, and install the belt. When installing the belt, start at the crank, go around the aux. shaft sprocket, and onto the cam sprocket. Make sure there is no slop in the belt on the aux. shaft side. Run it by the tensioner, and release the tensioner. Replace the cover, but remove the plug in the center, by the head. Rotate the engine by hand through 4 crank revolutions, and double check the timing marks. If they are still good, snap the button it, put in the plugs, attach the wires, and go racing!
Take care, -Chris

Well.....everything is off, except the crank pulley. I used Chris's little trick to get the bolt off, but I think I'm gonna need a puller, cause it ain't goin no where.
I've got the motor at TDC on the compression stroke and I've got the cam in time. Once I get that crank pulley off, I've only got about 20min worth of work(5 for Chris)

Well I've got it all buttoned up and it's running(yay ).
I'm not 100% sure I had the motor at TDC when I installed the belt, I think it's about 2* advanced(yea, like I don't need any more torque), oh well.....it's not hurting anything. Just thought I'd let Chris know what was up, thanks man you were a big help ....I owe you one.
