Transmission Gear Box Oil Leak

I have a 94' v-6 Mustang, 5-speed. I looked under the car and where the drive shaft connects to the transmission gear box, oil is seeping out, down the transmission case, and toward the back of the gear box.

First, what is the problem here? Second, how much should this fix cost me to make? Third, how critical is this problem (ie, fix yesterday?)? If you know about this or can offer advice, I would really appreciate it! Thank you very much,

Get under the car (with jack stands) clean the area up, run the car and see exactly where the leak is. Sounds like it's your output shaft seal. It can be very critical ie, tranny fluid leaks out, tranny goes dry, tranny gets hot, tranny melts down, new tranny costs lots of money. New seal costs around $10. Don't go for a discount seal either. The switch is very simple and takes under an hour. Remember don't get under the car without jack stands.
