V6 to Cobra with a donor car from FLA...
I just got a 200 v6 yesterday. A good price, and honestly all I could afford with the enormous insurance here in nj eating up the extra money I could have spent on a GT.
Please humor me. I was offered a 3 inch mac cat back for a cheap cheap price. But now I am reading that it may be too much and I should go with a 2.5. Would it be a problem to throw the 3 inch on my car? There'a a lot of kits on ebay that convert past the Y to a dual, but it seems more cosmetic to me. In short: I need the best performance I can get at a good price with out going crazy. Instead of throwing all the money on more expensive parts for 1-3 hp when I could be a.) saving for a drop in motor solution or b.) saving for a GT. I wanted a GT but they were all beat to hell. For $8000 I got a 2000 with 20,000 miles. Not too bad considering my last car was an oldsmobile... Ait intake: I can't just cut off that constrictive crap and put on a tube with a big filter, right? I assume the sensor would screw up the engine? I don't want to spend $$ If I am going to drop in parts from a donor GT I might get. It's a lot of work, but from $1800 a year to 7000 a year for insurance, I'd rather blow $7000 on parts and stil have the low insurance. I'd change the engine, computer, transmission and rear end , etc. It's a rolled cobra BTW. Can I run a cobra engine on a GT rear end? Last edited by ASSEMbler; 04-09-2003 at 12:42 AM.. |

Yes you can run a cobra engine on a GT rear without any problems.
Good luck on your project,

I would stay away from 3 inch pipes on a V6. You will lose power. Go with 2.25 or 2.5.

Exhaust
I am guessing a real dual exhaust is better than a split at "y" to a dual right?
I've had the car two days and I am already wanting to work on it. Have to love mustangs.. |
