XR4TI Heads / Turbo addition?

I've noticed that many people on the board that are beefing up their 2300's are going to an XR4TI head. What makes it so attractive to high performance? If using a 78/79 2300 engine, what year XR4TI head would work? Is the performance that much better than the stock head with oversized valves and some port work? How expensive is it to go to turbo? I had posted my intentions for my 79 pony in a posting "Street/Strip 79 Coupe" about a week ago, but didn't get much response. Any information and assistance would be helpful.

There seems to be very few people interested in doing anything with 2300s. I admit, they aren't the best performance machines out there, but I have an indirect motive for the information. If I'm going to screw up a motor, I'd rather trash a 2300 than my original 66 pony 289! I've got several 5.0's I want to build but I've always felt practice helps. If the 2300 project is a success, I'd be swapping it out with a 5.0 with a beefed up T-5 built by MustangCentral in Byron GA. Needless to say, I'm still interested in support for the 2300 at this point. All suggestions welcome, direct Email is ThePonyExpress66@yahoo.com. Thanks for the info.
