what would you ask for for christmas??

Hello all

I don't believe that Christmas is just about what you're gonna get for gifts, BUT my wife says "let's both spend a certain amount on each other and let's say how about $300". I say "whatever", right. Anyway she loves it when I tell what to get me, go figure. My plan is strictly Mustang stuff!! I have FRPP 'C' springs waiting for the rest of the suspension, which I haven't purchased yet, but my wonderful wife says that those things should come out of the car repair budget, cuz it's maintenance! WOW! So I'll be ordering that soon, but as for Christmas with $300 what should I get?? Look at my sig, that's everything I've got so far.

I was thinking a shifter, K&N Filter, clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster....

What do you guys think?

lx5091 11-06-2002 09:40 AM

The reason I haven't done the suspension yet, is that I want to install everything at once and only once. Such as shocks/struts, isolators, caster/camber plates, front lower control arms (i've done inner and outer tie rod ends), and rear upper and lowers.

Please don't suggest any of these things as I will be getting these already.

NotchJohnson 11-06-2002 12:11 PM

Try to get her to bump the $300 up to $500, and ask for some juice!:D

Kamaro Killer 11-06-2002 05:14 PM

Get some 3.73 gears

If you look at my car's specs, I am almost at the same point as you as far as mods, except that I have 3.73 gears. IMO gears are one of the best mods out there. I'm not sure if you could buy them and have them installed for under $300 but maybe if you do some research, you could find them for that price installed. Let us know what you deceide. Take care, Keith

DAN-MAN 11-06-2002 05:59 PM

What do I want for Christmas? An '03 Cobra of course!

Daniel.

If your gonna mod the car you could start with an autometer tach and maybe a pillar mount gauge cluster. That way you'de have accurate nice looking guages and a nice big shift light and tach. Thats what I'm asking for for x-mas. well that and a set of gt40-p heads but i don't think ill get the heads.

RICKYRM125CC 11-07-2002 09:41 PM

go with geare if posible

Gears will give the most for the price you have to work with.
what a wife mines probably scouting the clearance racks for some cheap socks.

spankaveli 11-08-2002 11:33 AM

gears, definitely

RED92LX50 11-08-2002 11:35 AM

Gears are an excellent suggestion

If not gears, then Pulleys ($100), and Shifter ($200).

lx5091 11-08-2002 11:50 AM

Yeah, I think the clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster is "tweaking" kinda stuff, I should keep to core upgrades, and the filter, I'll just pick up at the local parts store with pocket change.

The only way I'd do pulleys because of my electric fan and stereo system is if I also bought an SN95 alternator. Which makes pulleys about a $200-225 expense.

I've definately made up my mind on the Shifter. What should I get with the other $150+/-?

Maybe I'll just raid the Platinum Visa for $8-10,000 and build my whole car!!! Just kidding!

I plan to ask for more time to spend with my friends.
To get my kids more hooked into racing.
To get my wife off my back......
To win the lottery so I can assault the 7's.
For our great country to come together as "Americans" instead of a bunch of "MultiCultural" pieces that all expect something for free.
For a world where freedom and justice are not just empty terms.

I wish you all health and happiness in your pursuits of power!

Now for speed equipment, I want a Tremec or a T56 so I can ditch the boring C-4 in my rod. The car is going to be my sons in about a year. I know that he, like his ol man, lives to bang the gears.

Jthompson 11-08-2002 06:58 PM

Honestly, before you go ANY further you need that adjustable clutch. Sure it is just tweaking, but you don't want to keep adding power without the proper clutch adjustment

Get the Pro 5.0 shifter or the Tri-ax.

depending on your smog laws, I would go for an h or x pipe after that.

lx5091 11-08-2002 07:36 PM

Unfortunately I have to keep EVERYTHING smog legal. I know people that can fudge things for me, but I also have good buddy's that have been caught fudging emmissions for people, so I refuse to ask anyone to do that for me.

I've seen many people ask what the best shifter is, I think they're all major improvement over stock, my buddy has a hurst billet and that was cool, but I've never heard anyone mention using one here. I may just go with the MAC 'cuz it's so inexpensive ($129 50resto.com)!

HMMMMM... what to get, what to get....

Ford Motorsports aluminum drive shaft @160.00. More power to the hardball and smooths out alot of vibrations.

Gears.

Bad89stang 11-10-2002 11:08 PM

I would get a Pro 5.0 instead of the MAC shifter. You get what you pay for and that is one item you don't want to skimp on. You'll thank me every time you shift.:D

Have you used the MAC Racer's Choice shifter, or someone you know used it that claimed it was junk? I've driven a couple different Mustangs all with different shifters and from the short experience I've had with each, they really felt very much the same. Maybe if I've used a brand for years then tried something else, I would probably be able to tell how it was different. I'm not dead set on the MAC, I just think they DO make quality stuff and I think it will be a world different than stock. I would like someone's opinion on the 2nd to 3rd shift with a MAC, they don't advertise it's performance in that aspect.

Thanks guys, you really are looking out for a fellow enthusiast. Keep it coming!!! I still don't know what to get:p

Give me a new set of spark plugs and Faith Hill!!!!!

Yeah sure....................

Semper Fidelis, Your son is in good hands and we will send him home safe, he is our family and we are proud to have him.

I agree with lots of posts on here such as the pro 5.0 shifter, only had experience with the hurst other than the pro, I love mine.

I say get the aluminum driveshaft and gears since a gear swap commonly causes vibration issues. The gears will be a very noticable swap and the driveshaft swap will be doing the gear swap right!

GEARS AND DRICESHAFT!

It will be pricey to install the gear, but can't we fit that into car amint?!

:D

USMC302 11-12-2002 01:29 PM

actually a driveshaft would be better than a driceshaft
