CAM VS EMISSIONS

Hey guys and gals, I see alot of posts about the different cams that people are running. My question is how are those of you running b,f,x303 cams or any other manufactuer passing emissions? I would like to move up to a more performance oriented cam, but do not see the e303 being worth the time to strip the motor and replace it. I live in the DFW metroplex and the testing is fairly strick, but I know there are places even more srtick than here. Just curious! Thanks for any info.

Emission What's That? No Emission Test TO Pass in Va.

X303 cam and lovin it!!!!!! I beleive you can lean-out your engine by advancing the timing long enough to pass a emission test. Just a guess.

Emissions tests are a real pain in the @ss, especially here in california. As you can tell from my signature my car will fail instantly because of various off road parts.

The whole smog dilemma was solved by giving the local guy a little bit of money and i passed no prob.

But if you wish to try to cheat the system instead of bypassing it pour 4 or 5 bottles of isoprophenol (rubbing alcohol) in about a 1/4 tank of supreme and advance your timing as said above.

The alcohol burns clean and it has some water in the solution as well. i have no idea of any possible reprocussions this may cause but it works.

As long as your not real aggressive & run the cats you should be OK. The test here in Indiana & I got through no problem with a 331 stroker & .544/.554 222/230@.050 cam.

cams are for fast and emmisions testing is for slow.

Any overlap will kill emissions (need more lsa)... so this limits the duration as well (or you'll just kill your cylinder pressure).

Lift is good.

Some 1.7 roller rockers might work for ya.

The e-cam/crane 2040 is just on the edge of passing (fms lobes are too aggressive, and there's a long advertised duration).

The crane 2030/2031 would be a better pick. Modest duration, 112lsa, and lots of lift. I'm not sure if they're certified... so no guarantees.

All I can think is the Indiana test is nonsense. My car passes with a no emissions cam & was as clean as stock with a Crane 2040.
