Turbo civic blows engine!

I raced a civic with a turbo at the track a little while back and he got me with a 12.5@111 or 113mph.

I posted this a while back; well I just found out that he blew up his motor shortly after that day.

It is true that they cannot handle that kind of power long! Just thought I would share. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

On near stock components, and boosted to heck, they don't last long...

I would think a 4 cyl with loots of boost and stock compents wouldn't hold together for very long. Even with aftermarket componets how much could a 4 cyl block handle anyway.

He burned 4 pistons. Unfortunately for us when he gets it back on the road again it will most likely be in the low 11's. He is getting block work done, better rods and pistons. When it is all said and done he will be running about 28 psi boost !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it will be a couple of weeks though. I will talk to him tonight.

Work on your 5.0 and be ready to spank him when he gets back on the road. Boil that rice!

With out the bottle that might be hard to do, this thing is fast.
The good thing is by the time he gets it running I should have mine running right "I hope".
Then I will spray him!

Well you see the nitrous kits for the 4 cylinders and they are like 25,50 shots, and sometime a 75 shot. So what does that tell you? A stocker couldn't hold up to much boost, but any car with too much boost won't hold up. That is dang fast for a 4 cylinder though! Props to that guy. ;oP

That car is deffinately NOT rice, and it's damn fast for any car, 8-bangers included.

Its like math for the real world. If a 4 cyl. is subjected to 28 PSI boost, how far will the snapped rod throw the bent piston through the block wall? Skip that whole "if one train leaves Boston and 11:30 going 35 MPH..." crap, this is better.
