How rare is your Mustang?

Just curious. I have finally narrowed mine down. The list is as follows:
1993 Mustang
114,228 total Mustangs
of those, 26,101 were GT
of the GT's, 14,459 were 3 Door Hatchbacks
of the 3 Door Hatchbacks, 425 were Silver
of the Silver Clearcoat, 90 had Black Clothe interior
of those, 66 were 5 speed manual transmission
of those, 7 had sunroof and optional axle.
Mine is number 6 of the 7!

My 1989 LX is special ordered from the factory with factory modifications. There is not another just like it, there are some that are similar, especially exterior paint and white convertabile top, but none totally just like it. It came off the assembly line in April of 1989, just before they started making the modifications for the new, up comming model.

bigwhitecobra 02-23-2001 12:34 AM

My Cobra is as follows:
94 Crystal White, with black cloth int. Standard radio, and no spare tire or jack. It is #12 of 45 94 cobras produced that way(big whoop). It is also # 45 of 206(not exactly sure on the number here, but not too far off) White with black cloth int. What I really want is a black 94 Cobra with Saddle cloth int. Know anyone with one that wants to sell it?
I am also concidering buying an 86 SVO comp prep, which is one of only 86 built. the guy only wants $3K for it. He has no idea what it is, and he had the dealer install the Ac and radio(dummy) But it is a real comp prep.

MINES THE RAREST!!!!!!!! I WIN! LOL http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

My 68 is 1 of 256 produced with a bench seat. This is RARE RARE RARE! My car also has a rear window defroster, PS, AC, Overhead consle, Sport deck rear seat, GT package, 4 speed and a 390 BIG BLOCK BABY!

Ive got all the stats somwhere... gotta find them before I post anything else.

Ha my 91 LX with an AOD and whatever package group includes the premium sound system, power lock and windows, and whatever else ain't so rare http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif Just wish I had the bucks to get that 92 LX trunk back then. I went down to the Ford dealer and told the guy. I want an LX with no nuth'n in it. No AC, radio, no auto, not even power steering if I could delete it. Then he told me that it would cost 16,000 and he would need a 30% deposit. Then with a straight face the joker said, but I have a loaded LX on the lot for 14,7. Guess he didn't understand what I was looking for. Anyways he told me if he located something like that he would give me a call (still waiting). Oh well, a year later I was desperate and ended up with my white doa lx, which I'm happy to say has lost the doa, ac, and power steering http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif (broke the first, removed the second, and am upgrading the third to a manual rack!)

Jaydee 02-23-2001 10:26 AM

My 65 K code was 1 of 7,273 built in 65. Seems like a lot, but Ford built over 680,000 mustangs in the first extended year of production so that works out to only 1.1% of the production that carried the HiPo drivetrain. Most of the K cars (over 60%) were fastbacks, so the coupe is not as common and with a later 1964 build date it carries a lot of cross over features from the 64 1/2 cars. The best part (to me) is that its drive train is 100% numbers matching, never been modified and is original to the car.

82 GT
1 of 24,000

you could only get them in 3 colors/only manual trans (4spd)

If the colors were split evenly, my silver is 1 of 8,000

scott93gt 02-23-2001 09:21 PM

I got the info on interior/exterior color combo from http://www.etconnect.com/gt/tgnr/
Follow the directions by e-mailing him your VIN.
The rest of the information I dug up from Ford's in house computer system and their warranty system. When you go to a Ford dealer to have work done they enter your complete vin into the computer and it tells when the car was built, when the warranty started, the engine, trans and rear axle ratio.
I simply sent my $20 for a complete history of my car and requested all the vin numbers for cars with the same interior / exterior codes (90 total including mine).

As far as RARE RARE RARE, Ford only put Silver Clearcoat metallic (paint code YN) on the 1993 Mustangs. Yes, there were Silver Mustangs in 1982, but it was a different paint code and when Ford redesigned the car in 1987, Silver was not offered again until 1993, the last year for the body style.

Ok...I've got this one. I've got a 1984 1/2 GT350 20th Anniversary edition, #842 of 934
Fuel Injected 5.0 Liter Automatic hatchbacks. Add the T-tops and I don't have specific numbers. BUT I gaurantee you that you'll never see a single other Mustang like mine...here's why. I've got a foot steering unit mounted about where the clutch pedal would be on a manual car. It's not factory, but you'll never see another one on a Mustang. And yes, I steer with my left foot. My arms are shorter than normal and the state of Kansas made me get this mod. Not that any of that really matter, but there isn't a single Mustang like mine. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

Hmm, Id kinda like to find it out. Mines #406 of xXx? in 1989. I dunno how many had the Grey/chrome aluminum 5 star wheels, with the RED/Black exterior with the grey/red cloth interior seats with the 3.55 rear end.
But not too many I bet.

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. I guess everyone who owns a Mustang has a rare and unique Mustang to them. Keep sending in your information. Anyone who has and 82 and newer try the site link I posted a few messages earlier in this thread. Stew ususally responds in 48 hours.

Jaydee
Your Mustang sounds really cool. I have only ever seen one 1965 "K" car and it was a fastback. How long have you had your car?

RedlilPony
Your car is rare indeed, a bench seat! I saw one for sale several years ago, inline 6 auto without any options. Maybe I should have picked it up. I didn't realize there were only 256.

Unit 5302
Send Stew your vin and you will find out how rare it is. You don't see many of the 80's or early 90's cars with tan interior. I have a friend who has a 87 red with tan interior, one of 74 with that combo (not sure exactly what red it is).

Tony
Your car is pretty rare in that it was the last year for a carb and the first year for factory headers. Hang on to it.

Thanks for posting and keep them coming.

I ordered my blue/blue 90 LX sedan in late May of 90. I think it could just about the last 90 blue LX sedan with the 3.08 they made. It has a June build date. It also had a dove gray stripe instead of blue. This really confused the dealer & I because it wasn't orderd that was & I've never seen another blue car with the gray stripe. I wrecked it later & when I had it repainted they called me about the color code for the gray stripe & wanted to know if I wanted it back that way cause they thaought it was kinda strange.

Tony Frank 02-24-2001 04:42 PM

Yea scott it is the last year of the holley 4 bbl. it did have stock shorty equaly length headers, but they were small, so like anyone i had to do someting with it, so i pulled the motor, and painted the engine compartment to match the exterior. the block and heads are black i have ceramic coated full length headers edelbrock performer rpm intake, ford motorsport E 303 cam, larger valve springs, windage tray, new (not stock one) holley 4 bbl. mechanical secondary, new heave duty radiator, flex fan, under drive pullies, wires.......bone stock on original tires and plugs i ran a 14.9 and i was spinning 1st 2nd and a little of 3rd, can anyone tell me what i should be running wiht my new combo????????

What about me, how do I find out about mine?

Skyler

scott93gt 02-25-2001 07:43 AM

Since your car is a "Saleen" it was probably ordered as a LX hatchback with V8. Your vin should start 1FA(?)P41E(?)KFxxxxxx. The first question mark in the vin determines your restraint system. Cars with single airbag have a C. Since your car is an '89 I am not sure what it would be. The second question mark represents a "check digit" that Ford uses, it should be 0-9 or X. The last six numbers in your vin indicate your car's exact production number in teh sequence of all Mustangs produced that year. They always start with 100,001. In 1989 Ford produced 209,763 Mustangs, 59,701 of which were GT.
I would still contact the individual listed in the previous post to determine when your car was built and exactly how Ford produced it then I would contact Saleen to see how many they built that year. Chances are they will have much better records than Ford as to how many cars they built in 1989. With yours being #406 I am going to guess it was one of the very last ones they produced in 1989. Good luck and let us know what you find out. If you need help contacting Saleen, let me know. I know some people in the local Mustang club I belong to that are very active with the national Saleen club. I could also dig up their number at the dealership.

Scott
