Engine of Choice?
I was just thinking about the S351 last night and what engine would you want of these 3 (for power and reliability):
Super Charged 4.6 DOHC Super Charged 5.4 Super Charged 351 I only inlcuded the DOHC because I've heard that it responds so well to boost. I know that they will no longer put a SC 351 in the new Saleens, and I assume they will put a SC 5.4 in, but who knows? I have no experience with the 5.4L and haven't heard if it is suited the power demands of fast mustangs, like the SC 351 was. 351 because it is the easiest to work on, at least as far as I know because I have never messed with the ohc motors.

351 hands down!! Why? You can still punch it out and stroke it. Add a T-trim and vola, 700 streetable HP. Can't argue with that, well not too much.

My old mustang has a 351 big block in it and it is a snich to work on. You can get mad power out of one.

I'd go with the blown 4.6L DOHC. Last summer at Bowling Green, Kentucky, I saw what one can do with 28 lbs. of boost hooked to it. WOW! http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/eek.gif http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...board/cool.gif
Poor guy blew it up at the 1000' mark, I believe, but not before making quite a few passes. Hey Dan, what team was that, anyway? ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/wink2.gif |
I would take a 5.4 dohc just becasue i have the 5.4 sohc in my truck and i love it. IT makes me wonder what u can do with the dohc 5.4
|
I would go with the blown DOHC 5.4. If they can make 400 with the DOHC 4.6, what do you think we could get form a motor that much bigger?
|
351 all the way baby cheaper to work on and easier to find parts sound cooler to with flowmasters.;)
|
Definitly would have to go for the SC 351. Hell just mail the Super Charger here and I'll put her on my baby. :D

Supercharged 5.4 DOHC
|
The 4.6 DOHC.....Just cause thats what I already have, If I was builing one from scratch I would go with a good ole push rod 351.

Who dug up this old thread??
:D |
Mike did. He's been "bored" lately.
:) Take care, ~Chris |
