Bad news for the S7
What has "only" 350hp(to the crank), weighs less than 2500lbs, goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, does the quartermile in 12 flat and "only" costs about 160 thousand dollars? The Mosler MT900!!!!! For less than half the price and with 150 less horsepower, this car puts up similar numbers. It has a 350 from a Corvette with the only difference being the exhaust. I wonder what the numbers would be if they added the Z06 heads and computer? I think with that and a little more tweaks before production, this car could possibly best the mighty F1. And for 1/10th of the price!!!

I wouldn't say bad news. The S7 is made by Saleen, a very reputible company. Plus the S7 is way cooler.
When you are buying a car like that reputation is very important. (atleast to me) If I wanted just speed, I'd through money at my GT and kill both cars (maybe not in handling). ------------------ White 1995 Mustang GT Dynomax Cat-Back, Offroad H-pipe, ADS chip, K&N Filters w/o Air Silencer My 1995 Mustang GT |
Takes hp to get top speed. Weight isn't a factor when it comes to top speed applications, hp and drag is.
I don't know, sounds like a suped up Civic. That thing is going to be as jittery as a chick waiting to be dumped after 3 lattes in a coffee house. I drove my little '91 Escort GT up above the 110 marker a couple times, and let me tell you, there is a WORLD of difference with the addition of a few hundred pounds. My Mustang is hugely more stable at higher speeds. Oh, and if you want performace out of a little car, you could always by a 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra, or a CSX2000. About 2,000 lbs and 450hp at the crank. Tops out at about 160mph due to drag, don't think you'll catch me trying to prove that either. The Series 1 is along the lines of what you describe as well. |
Mosler makes good cars as well....in the past though, they just haven't been the best looking. But the perform like a mofo. This one looks nice and performs. It is due out the same time the S7 is for half the price so that would cause some problems for the S7 for anyone in the market for a supercar. 12.0 and 3.5 to 60 on a stock 350 would be enough to make it sell more than a S7....if I were going to buy a supercar, I would rather buy a MT900 over a S7.
