Pulled this code: is there a mechanic in the house?

Well again this isn't for my stang, because she never breaks down..uh hmm. Anyways I pulled a 41 code, and in my Haynes manual it reads:

Problem with the charging system. An open or shorted condition detected in the generator field control circuit. What the heck is that?

Any mechanics in the house? THe main reason I checked the codes was my battery light popped up and stayed on. Any suggestions.
New plugs, cables, ignition control unit in the last 6 months. Belt is fine, any ideas?

Thanks everyone....Trying not to bring it in, but fear I may have too.

Sounds like the regulator inside the alternator is fried. Take her down to advance or autozone, they will test it for free.

Well I will check that out thank you, I talked to a mechanic and he said that it may be the the whole damn Power control module, I guess I will try your option first, would be cheaper either way...

according to my sources, a code 41 is an oxygen sensor problem!

I have the error code book infront of me.

Code 41 indicates that your car is running lean.

Out of the book:
RUNNING
HEGO [HO2S] CIRCUIT INDICATES SYSTEM LEAN (RIGHT HO2S)

I think Mach 1 is right again http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

Are all codes universal? Because the code definition, is stated above in my Haynes manual. This is for a um, hmm, well, Dodge Neon, one of our daily drivers. Thank you for your replies, I need to get this car running properly ASAP. Fiance is nervous to drive it until it is fixed...But I would hate to pay $80 for someone to tell me the same thing that I already did and that was pull a 41 code. Thanks in advance.

Wait a minute, your using a Dodge Neon manual to troubleshoot your mustang?! Stop right now, and take the car to a mechanic, and put the crack pipe down..lol. No, all codes are not universal.

Mach: you goof.

I wrote in my first post that this wasn't for my stang. So now I am back to square one. I talked to a mechanic, online, not the most assuring, but he seems to know what was up, and he said that it was my Power control module PCM for my car, are there any mechanics that can back this up.

So back to the other issue, did everyone think my post was for the Stang? I thought I said that this wasn't for my stang, but perhaps the uh h.. left the impression that I was teasing.

You guys in here are great, placing the crack pipe down now....Oh man I got the shakes, smiling

My bad, I misunderstood you. When you said it wasnt for your stang, I thought you were working on a friends stang.
