Oil sensor on side of oil pan...
It's just above the drain plug on the rear sump and just below the dipstick tube and it's leaking. Has anyone ever had this problem? Can it be fixed or do I need a new one? I pulled it out and put some gasket sealer on the very back threads, but it almost looks like it's leaking from where the sensor actually goes into the metal sleeve. I looked in the Mustangs Unlimited catalog and it appears to be the one sensor they don't carry, is this strictly a dealer part? Thanks in advance....

If you want a cheap fix - A couple years ago I took mine apart and I think I put a small rubber O-ring in and put it back together. You'll know what to do when you pop it apart. It just started leaking a little again.

This is a dealer part and costs about $35.
I replaced mine (it lasted nine years) and it took about 15 minutes (on a lift). Worth the piece of mind, in my opinion. |
Are you talking about the oil level sending unit? If is leaking and the unit works, then all you need is a plastic gasket. The ford dealer sells this part for a dollar or so. I know because I replaced mine.
