A newbie to Mustangs lookin' for help...

Hey there! I was just vacationing in my hometown of Seattle, WA -- I moved to Grand Forks, ND, a year ago -- and I had the pleasure of renting an SRS convertible for two weeks... now I feel I must own one. However, I'm trying to figure out the differences between the SRS and the GT convertible. I'm pretty sure the SRS I had was a 2001 (all the manuals in the glove box referred to the 2001 model year), but the Ford website doesn't even list the SRS. The GT looks pretty similar, and many of the options appear to be the same as what was in the SRS, but I'm still very confused. I've even been in contact with a dealer in town, but after several messages back and forth this fellow has still not even acknowledged my original inquiry regarding the SRS. I hoping you fine folks might be able to shed some light on this for me. Pretty, pretty please? Thanks!

I don't mean to come off the wrong way but the SRS your refering to means supplemental restraint system aka: airbag. There is only one GT vert for 2oo1. No such thing as a SRS model. Hope this helps.

Hey, Dan.

Okay, now I feel completely stupid. The moment I read your message it clicked -- the "SRS" was indeed imprinted upon the steering wheel and the passenger side dashboard... right where one would expect the airbags to be located. It was printed in a fancy, lower-case script, so it didn't seem terribly obvious to me at the time. Too, niether the dealer nor Ford (I just received a response from them, too) pointed that out.

Well, at any rate I can get some sleep now, so I'm very grateful for that. Thanks for the enlightenment. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Your mind is in chevy land. Currently, the top of the line camaro (Mustang Cobra equivilant) is the SS, and they previously made one called the SS-RS. Chevy designations are incomprehensible, especially the engine stuff.
