99 Cobra, 01 Formula, or 01 Z28?

My dad and I are looking to buy a new sports car. We are trying to keep the price below $25,000. We cant decide between the 1999 Mustang Cobra, the 2001 Firebird Formula, or the 2001 Camaro Z28. Can anyone tell me what is the fastest, which one would win a 1/4 mile race. What is eveyone's opinions on these three cars. What would you get? All your opinions are apreciated.

From what I have heard, the 99 Cobra isnt very well off. I am not sure why but thats just what i have heard. I would probably go with the Z if I were you.

2001 Camaro Z28 are more than 25,000 Try 29,000 or so and I think the 2001 Firebird Formula is very close to 29,000

You can get a fully loaded 2002 Z28 for around 25-26, that I basically all options except the SS, you can get a Trans am Ram air for 30.

BANG FO DA BUCK!!
The answer is so simple: keep in mind that this is coming from a Cobra owner. The performance of the new Cobra is easily fixed with a recall power adder courtesy of Ford for screwing up. My friend worked with the main tranny guy at Mcree Ford, and after getting those parts installed, the power was crazy. But here's the thing all three cars that you have metioned are over your $$limit. You can work a deal on the GM products so knock a little over a thousand off of whatever all the other guys are quoting...but for Cobra...sorry Charlie...no deals...sales aren't hurting them like the GM products.
SO for the buck, buy a GT 2002 and bust out with the mods. You can add on to it and make it smoke a ram air GM by the time you pay for either of the other three cars. My girlfriend Jodi (RedLilPony) has a 99 GT with minor mods and it is a performer. Also, you can add a grnd fx kit like she did that makes the car look very bad *** . Think about it!!!!!

Thats pretty stout considering the mild cam http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif.

After racing a '99 Cobra (pre-fix) in my stock + gears + offroad H pipe 5.0L, and beating it by a couple car lengths, I think I would be buying the Formula (don't like how the Camaros look).

My dad thought about it and decided to go all out. He raised his price range and is now looking at the SS and the Trans Am. How much money would we have to put into a 99 Cobra to keep up with the SS or the Trans Am. Now what do you all think we should do?

Why are you looking at a 99 Cobra??

If you are going to spend the money, buy a new 2001 Cobra, they are suppose to be fixed up and ready to kick some LS1 a$$ http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/cool.gif

He's right, don't go with the 99 at all, besides, the new seats in the 2001 rock. But like I said, my girlfriend has a kick-a$$ 99 GT that has some aftermarket stuff and a trophy winning lean look to it and she still hasn't spent what I had spent on my Cobra. My Cobra IS a performer in bone stock, but she IS NOT far behind. So go with a new GT and have some fun. Dropping mods in is 3/4's the fun of being a blue oval fan!!!!
