302 swap into a 86 f150 with -6

what is involved to swap a fuel injected 5.0 engine into an 86 f-150, with a straight 6, auto trans?
could you use the stock trans (would it hold up)?
we can get ahold of an 87 302 for around $500

Assuming the transmission has the same bolt pattern, it should hold up. A stock 5.0 isn't gonna make a lot more power than an inline 6. Just make sure that you have the right motor mounts and headers to make the swap. I'm assuming this truck is a 4X2 cuz if it's a 4X4 that's a whole new world of problems right there.
