Rocker Arm Adjustment
Please tell me the one and only way to properly adjust a set of crane adjustable rocker arms so they dont make any noise at all. The way I was told to adjust them was to rotate the engine until the cam lobe is 180 from total lift, zero lash the rocker arm, then turn the adjusting nut 1/4 turn, then back off 1/8. Is this correct, what am I doing wrong.

Are you doing the intial adjustment on the heel of the cam? The comp cams catalog has a good method for doing intial adjustment. For hydraulics I was always told to rotate the pushrod until it just began to get a little resistance to movement, then start the motor and back off on the lifter until it clattered. Turn it until the noise stopped then a 1/4 turn more. However, even hydraulic lifters have a certain amount of lash to them initially (cant remeber if it is .004 or .008?) rather than the more typical method of just leting 'em clatter and then adjusting the noise away. Suppossedly by setting each lifter with this bit of lash is more accurate and offers higher rpm potential?
