4.10gears/2400 stallconverter???
my 91gt is stock if i put 4.10 gears a shift kit and 2400 stall converter do you guys think i could pull off a 14.5 in the 1/4mile???
thanks to any answers a head of time. |
Joey50,
Absolutely. these mods should easily result in mid to low 14. I don't have any hands on experience with the aod but i believe if you shift it right 14's shouldn't be a problem. You may also consider a shift light,it will help you make sure your getting to about five grand before you shift. many times I've seen slow et's as a resuly of short shifting. Make sure you've done the usual; timing, silencer removed & so on. |
Joey,
one more thing, make sure it doesn't shift into overdrive during the run. |
It won't shift into OD because the AOD will not ever shift into OD at WOT when it is stock.
A 2400 converter will seem almost stock. Either leave the stock one in or get a 3000. I had an AOD '90 GT and 3.73's and a good tire was enough to run 14.60's-70's Your AOD also will not hold out to 5 grand w/ out doing a 1-d-1 shift. Hold 1st til you want it to shift...then go to "d" Go back to 1 to hold second til you want to shift. Then go back to "d" again and leave it there. You should run about 14.30-14.50 Shifting like that w/ converter(3000) shift kit, and 4.10's w/ tires. ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.webprovider.com |
I've got a 2400 stall and it is nothing like stock. 2400-2800 is perfect for a street car with no huge power mods. Mine prpbably needs to be re-stalled to 2800. Anyway, my combo works great. I can launch like mofo and can whomp most T5 out of the hole and it is over. 4.10, shift kit (Transgo or Baumann only), and a 2400-2800 converter = mid-low 14's.
Also, let it be known that the 1-d-1 shuffle that NOS_notch mentioned does work and will lower your ET, but it will kill your AOD eventually. ------------------ 1991 Mustang GT - Cobra Intake, FMS 65mm TB, C&L 73mm MAF, GT-40P heads, Crane 2031 cam, Crane 1.7rr, Built AOD, Art Carr 2400 non-lockup converter, Transgo shift kit, BBK chrome cold air, FMS 'P' headers, Pacesetter off-road H, BBK aluminum pulleys, 2-C Flows w/ dumps, 4.10's, Steeda STB, for now... With a 2400 rpm stall speed you would be better suited with 3.73 gears. The 4.10's will work better with a 2800+ rpm stall speed.
