Get ready, we're about to DUMP UBB!

You read it right. The time is well past due, and we are about to dump the UBB bulletin board system in favor of the much more powerful VBulletin 2.x. VBulletin is drive by the PHP engine, which we have built into our webserver, so it will be MUCH faster and use LESS resources. In addition it uses a MySQL database backend instead of saving all its data to flat files (text files). This again makes it WAY faster, it will use less server resources to power it, and it can handle way more traffic.

Furthermore, the who's online piece of UBB that I hacked into the UBB code some time ago is NOT accurate. I'm looking forward to have VBulletin's nice who's online, buddy lists, and complete calendaring system which will now be what powers the never created "Event List" section.

All in all, I think everyone will find VBulletin much more enjoyable once you get used to the new system. But, for the most part, it will look very similar to this.

This change will occure at the very beginning of November (about three weeks) and most likely on a weekend. When it does, the forums will be down for part of that day.

Thoughts? Comments?

Come on Dan, push it. I bet if you really work a system out you can get it done in 15 minutes! LOL

Just in case some glitch happens I'll have to work my fanny off to get ahead of Skyman in posts before then, hehehe.

Sounds good to me, just make sure I can keep my "senior membor" status. I've been here forever, I just don't post near as often as some of these other guys. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/eek.gif

Thanks for producing a top notch first class site Dan!

All forums, posts, membership accounts, post counts, and profiles should be able to be transfered to the new system when I install VBulletin. So, nothing should be lost and no one should have to re-register.

Good call Dan!!

My local board made the switch and I absolutely LOVE it! There are so many new features that are just GREAT!

Of course there's a little getting used to, but once you dig in...it's amazing all of the neat goodies you'll find! The UBB seems old and worn around the edges after using the VBulletin!!

I can't wait! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
