incon amd 30#ers???
I may be picking up an incon kit soon. I am expecting to see 450-500 rwhp and was wondering 30# injectors would cut it or if i should go with 36#.
I live in CA so the injectors can't get much larger than that or i won't pass smog. I need it to idle nice as this is my daily driver. I figure 30/36 and an adjustable FMU should take care of smog and idle while still provinding enough fuel for the project 450-500 rwhp. what are your thoughts? 30's or 36's? whose FMU? aeromotive? cartech/vortech? thanks for all info |
Last time i looked into the incon kit, it came with a complete fuel system (yes.. 30lbers too), a mass air, a custom chip & Tht only other thing you really have to buy is E7ZZ engine mounts.
hope this helps. ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe (Sounds Mean), K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box, Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). What are the E7ZZ engine mounts and why are those needed?
|
I really couldnt tell you why you need them.
their just a requirement for the kit. the whole kit costs around 4k & can make upward of 800hp with a race engine |
how are 36's gonna treat me on the street?
will they pass CA smog? thanks |
I think that'd be bad @ss with 36#'ers and an adjustable processor like a PMS or something. You'd be able to tame those big injectors during idle and start up and you'd be able to control timing and fuel curves. It'd cost more, but it'd make one helluva system.

I consider the 36#/hr injectors a MINIMUM for this kit and if you're looking for 450rwhp the 42#/hr Bosch injectors (lime green top) are your safest route. Forget about using an FMU, just get the right MAF to go with whatever injector you get and you should be fine. Other than that, to hit 450+rwhp on pump gas, you'll need a little help in the tuning dept. Find a local tuner who has done turbo work before and can flash an Autologic chip with the right timing curve. I think Byron @ RaceSystems is in your neck of the woods. Passing CA smog should be a snap.
