Supercharger and power experts info please!!!
Ok guys, you won't believe what happened. My dad bought a new car, and kept his 89 GT to play with. Well, he said I could do whatever I want to do with it, so I think I am going to swap all of my parts off of the Cobra, and put it onto the GT, so I can keep the cobra original.
Here's the deal, I have TFS Heads, cam and Street Intake with Full lengths mufflers,1.6 RR's,and a 70 mm TB. I am going to switch that to the 89, except for the cam, that is a mess, the car already has a e cam. OK, I just bought a Powerdyne 9# from my best bud for $1200, excelent condition. The bad thing is that the 89 has a rebuilt motor with about 120K on it about <320 on entire car> and Keith Black Hyperutectic pistons. It has a stock T5 that has beed repaired twice over the life of the car. Stock rear end. Will these hold up FOR NOW, NO SLICKS, OR HARD RACING!!! or do I need to replace them first? Also say I make about 280 rwhp with the heads, cam, intake...about where will I be after the blower?? 380-390?? ------------------ Dustin TFS Street Intakes,TFS TW Heads, TFS #2 cam, Crane 1.6 rr's, Bassani Full lengths,Bassani short X-pipe, American thunder Cat back, 3.55's. I would say the bottom end should hold if you don't beat the life out it. Just make sure you give it a nice safe tune when you put the blower on. Did your buddy give you a boost retard also??? If not, its a wise investment...
As far as RWHP....hmmmm sorry, I was never impressed with powerdynes...maybe ballpark 350-360...but its all in the tune ------------------ 1992 5.0 LX, V-1 S-Trim @8LBS, Edelbrock 6037 Heads, Cobra Intake,E-303, 1.6 Roller Rockers,65MM Holley TB, 75 MM Pro M Mass Air, 190 LPH FP w/ 24 lb injectors,MSD 6A and BTM, BBK equal length shorties, offroad h-pipe,Mac Flowpath Mufflers, Pro 5.0, 3.73's,Motorsport "C" springs, welded subframe connectors, Ponies w/ 225/50 Nittos, Dark Green w/ 93 Cobra Spoiler Daily driver: 89 Coupe with 207K plus, BBK shorties, offroad h-pipe,2-chamber flowmasters with dumps |

What's your oil consumption like? If it isn't excessive, you should be okay. If oil is getting past the rings, it will mix with the gas and reduce the octane rating, which is definitely bad.

Yeah, my car runs great, no burning oil, and I did a leakdown, and if there was any blow by, I didn't see it. Oil changes are regular.
The only racing the car has seen was ONLY stoplight racing, no hard racing. well maintained. ------------------ Dustin TFS Street Intakes,TFS TW Heads, TFS #2 cam, Crane 1.6 rr's, Bassani Full lengths,Bassani short X-pipe, American thunder Cat back, 3.55's. More to come... |
