86 GT???

My girlfriend just bought an 86 GT/AOD. The car is stock with the exception of gears and Flowcloggers. The a$$hole That sold it to her said it had a blown head gasket. He repaired it and now 2 days after driving it it poped again. I told her not to buy it,but she loves the 86 body. My ? is can I take an 87-93stock 5.0L and replace that beat 86 motor? The car has 180,000. The trans was redone, but stock
I have a 90 motor fresh that is stock/w an 88 upper/lower. Would this work? I know this is speed density car so I wanna make sure everthing will work. Im a carb guy and don't know much about injection.

Thanks

It'll work mint...take that piece of $hit 86 motor and chuck it into the weeds.

Yank that 86 engine out!! It'll serve you well as a boat anchor! I'd definitely put that 90 engine and go from there. Just retain the speed density stuff from the 86 and you'll be all set.

Yep!

It'll work great, with the '86 weighing less than a comparable 87, you should see mid high 14's with good launches and traction with the '90 motor running SD style! http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...oard/smile.gif

you think that's bad here's the stuff my pile of crap has done to me:
cost $1700 to purchase (seemed to be worn but ok)
broken down 3 times
short between ignition switch and voltage reg. causing alternator not to charge
broken motor mount
extremely cracked floor and broken seat
timing chain worn to where engine won't run anymore (just took off cover)
clogged radiator, had to replace.
Had to replace carburetor
Exhaust band-aid from previous owner came undone
In a year i've driven this car like 2500 miles total....my fault for falling in love with it when i wanted to buy it....never again!
Oh, well.
