Force II Flowmasters/Borla/...or leave it alone?
I apologize if this question has been addressed before, however, I don't have time to scroll through all the posts.
I have a stock 2000 GT Mustang. I want to increase the gurgle/rumble noise, however, I don't want the loud piercing flowmaster 2 chamber affect. I want the stock sound to change to a deeper/meaner sound, with a definite audible difference. Has anyone done this to their 99/2000 GT? Is there a distinct difference between the low growl stock sound and the force 2 and or Borla? Any information would be appreciated. |
If you keep your stock H-pipe on and install an aftermarket muffler, the sounds will not be too loud. Flowmaster has a throaty, aggressive tone to it. Flows are loud at idle and super loud at Wide Open Throttle. While the Borla's offer a deep tone, that is quiet at idle, and really makes noise at WOT. If you don't want your exhause to be too loud, then I suggest Borla's (if you have the $$$) or MAC mufflers.

Thanks for the info.....
However, is there a significant difference between the Borla and stock? Do you think it is worth the money if I can afford it? |
Michael32-
Check the post for "Mufflers" that Dino posted not to far down.. Since the two years are almost identical, I'm sure that post will apply. Dynomax are still better... I think I am leaning toward the Borla catback....I like the sound. I know it is a little more expensive, however, too many people have the Flowmaster setup.
Now all I need is my X-pipe and I'm ready to go! |
Borla mufflers are the most overhyped, overpriced muffler that exists.Spend/save your money on something that will make a difference,ie:manifold, head porting, new pistons, etc.Forget the preoccupation with mufflers,on nearly stock
cars they yield 5-10 hp and they rob low end torque anyway. |
Borlas sound awesome on a mod-motor car, but they're REALLY expensive. I want them, but I'm probably going to put the same mufflers on my '96 Cobra that I had on my '88 5.0 LX....Dynomax Super Turbos. I haven't heard them on a Cobra yet, but they sounded terrific on my '88. And at less than $40 a piece, they're really cheap. Anyone bolted Super Turbos on their mod-motor Cobra with a stock H-pipe? How does it sound?

Go with Flowmasters Cat Back, Bassani Cat X-pipe(because the computer senses the Cat removle, and will screw the car up)and then Motorsports high flow shorties.
