another gear poll
I'm wondering what gear ratio you guys/gals recommend for my 96 GT, 5 spd. I have heard not to go any less then 3.73's. Keep in mind that I do mostly highway driving, and I don't drag race the car. I'm just looking to make it quicker and more fun to drive.

3.73 all the way. If you go with 3.55 you won't be happy. 4.10 way too much for GT's.
Just my $.02 worth, plus I have 3.73's in my 99GT. |
For a GT with highway driving, I would agree with the 3.73s. I do a lot of highway driving also. Interesting enough I haven't suffered any loss in milage even going as high as 4.10s. GTs are a little different, but still, 3.73s are deffently worth it.

3.73s are definately the way to go for your application!!

I agree with Hammer 3.73's. I got the same milage with my 99 GT with 3.27 and 3.73's 24 mpg highway. BTW I put 20,000 plus miles on it traveling to FFW events this year from March to November.
