2000 GT purchase!!
Hello everyone. It's time for me to get a new car and I'm looking at the 2000 Mustang GT. Basically, I think it's a lot of car for the buck. I have some experience with Mustangs in the past, having owned a '69 Mustang Mach1 and an '84 SVO.
Basically, anyone have any complaints (no matter how big or small) about the 2000 GT? I have a 2000 dealer brochure on the Mustang and it does not list yellow paint as an option. However, I have seen a 2000 GT Conv. at a dealership with yellow paint. Not only that, but the yellow car and the silver one next to it had a different hood design. I think it's called the 35th aniversary hood. Basically, it's got a hood scoop (still fake) that is about 1/2" taller than usual. Can anyone clarify what the deal is? Is it an option, limited edition, etc.? Is yellow paint really an option or was that car probably custom ordered with yellow paint? Thanks! |
The Mustangs that you saw were called SpringTime Edition models. That was the only way you could get a yellow Mustang for year 2000.

I wish I had gotten the yellow paint job.
Paint code BZ. It was only a 99 color and replaced by Gold for 2000. The 99's were all 35th anniversary cars but there was a $2700 option with a 35th anniversary package. Painted 17" rims, two tone leather seats and door panels. Floor mats, and titanium gauges, aluminum shift knob, and the hood scoop and honeycomb looking trim around the trunk. Other than Cosmetics thats all the difference. If you do get a 2000 GT you'll be one happy man. I love my 99. Wish I would of waited for a yellow one though. ------------------ Black 99 GT 3.73 gears Mac power chamber 2 chamber Flows Mac cold air induction steeda tri-ax Nitto drag radials 13.62 @ 109 (using a G-tech pro) |
The only problem I have heard from '99 - '00 GT owners is a couple of them have had some minor paint problems, but that's rare. The other 99.9% have been extremely pleased.

The only problem that I have had so far is that the throw-out bearing had to be replaced. This seems like a problem with the majority of the 99-00 GT's. I took mine over to Bankston Ford in Frisco, TX and they did a great job and didn't give me any hassles.
Other than that, my new 00GT is much better than my 97GT. Thanks. ------------------ Jason 2000 Silver GT |

The "Spring Feature" Cars are option code 54X and they look great, I have one in black and just love it. The stripes/hoodscoop/side scoop make mine a one of a kind in my city. Black sure is a pain in the *** to keep clean and scratchless but it is well worth it with the amount of heads that turn.
If you can, get the convertible, you won't regret it. ------------------ 2000 Mustang GT Convertible Spring Feature Special Edition Black/Black/Charcoal Bone Stock |

I have a 99 GT w/ the 35th Anniversary package. I love it, have had no problems with it other than having to have the throw out bearing replaced. If you get the chance go for it, you'll love the car!
