Gutting cats

I have heard that gutting your cats can help with HP gain. Is this true and what are the pros and cons of doing so?

Gutting your cats is like having an off road-H, depending on your h-pipe that can be a pain, your cheapest off road is only $99 to $109. I would just get one off those, and keep the original h-pipe incase you even want to pass emision

'97 GT, full lenght MAC headers, MAC Pro chamber h-pipe, Mac 2.5" Cat-back w/chrome tips, AODE 4W70R, K&N, Eibach springs and a 150 NOS wet shot system. Blue/Black/White interior, 1500 watts of music power. Coming very soon, shift kit, 4.10 gears, aftermarket trany pan, custom chip from SVC, Norman's lower conrol arms and subframes, and new pollygraphite bushings for the front suspension.

Aren't emissions inspections required in Houston?

If so, the safest and easiest route is the most expensive, get yourself an X\H-pipe with high flow cats...
