Vortech Install

I just installed a Vortech supercharger last Saturday on my '99 GT. The Vortech installation instructions call for a spark plug replacement. I guessing I should run colder plugs right? Copper? Brand and size? Thanks in advance...

Yes you should replace them. I assume that you can use the same plugs that the 5.0's use. So go with copper, Autolight 24's and gap them at .035.

Just curious on how the install went. Did you do it or have it done? What boost are you running. What size mass air,TB,and injectors did you go to. I want to get a S/C soon but am waiting for the warranty to expire. 18k more miles to go.

Black99GT,
The only mods besides the s/c is a Pro 5.0 shifter and a 70mm throttle body. Yesterday I received my 87mm MAF via UPS and plan to install this evening. Next week I'll replace the 3.27's with 3.73's and order a catback\x-pipe. I installed the s/c myself with the help of a friend when I needed a second set of hands. The hardest part of the install was punching a hole in the oil pan for the oil return line (half hour of hammering). If you can read and turn a wrench you can install a vortech, easy stuff. I took it slow and it took me 8 hours. I don’t know how much boost I’m running yet because I don’t have boost gauge! I guess I should order one of those too…but first I gotta get those plugs. Anyway it’s making good power as is and is fairly quiet. I ordered it from Powered by Ford, free shipping and they match any advertised price. I think North American Motorsports had the best prices…($2,799+$125 for the quiet drive).

If you want my opinion don’t wait for your warrantee to run out, buy a s\c today. I haven’t stopped smiling since I installed mine.

How are those Neato drag radials holding off the line? 245/45R17?

Thanks 93CobraR for the plug info.
