Yes, the worst the SN95's had was 3.08's in the Auto. 2.73's in the 5 speeds.

Can I beat a V6 Camaro with my 96GT???
 

I have a stock 1996 Mustang GT with an AOD. I know my engine only puts out 215 horsepower and I have a 2.73 rear end and all. But there is this 1997 Camaro with a 5 speed who says he can beat my car!!! I hate Camaros so please someone who knows this stuff please tell if I can beat him and if I can't what can I do to my V8 4.6???

are you sure you have 2.73, i thought sn95's worst gear was a 3.08, anyways, my buddy has a 96GT AODE completely stock except for flowmaster mufflers, we were out one night in his car and some guy from our school saw us leaving his neighborhood in his 97 3.8 5spd camaro and wanted to race, my buddy didnt want to so i jokingly told him to let me drive and kick his butt, not imagining he'd say yes, but he said ok and off we went, to make a long story short the camaro lost badly, he had a "performance chip" which i laughed at him when he said he had one and a few other little things, anyways, i'd definatley put my $ on your car unless the camaro is extremely modified, let us know what happens

Go for it. My girlfriend has the 3.8 in her Camaro. It is definitely a very powerful 6 but you should take him after second gear. Let us know!!!!
